HIDDEN GEMS OF TIME

Summer is in full Swing and will be here and gone before you know it.  This means that between backyard cook-outs, family gatherings, weddings, graduations, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, outdoor festivals, picnics, kids at-home, class reunions, work, meetings, anniversaries, sports; soccer, baseball, tennis, martial arts, dance, bowling, and all the host of other activities that you have to shuttle your kids to you really don’t have a lot of ME time left.

The good news is that even with a full schedule technology makes it easy to garner a few moments for yourself to do something just for YOU.  I suggest you copy or jot down some of these suggestions so they don’t dissipate in the wind, carried off by your over committed schedule or Things-To-Do List.

1. Use your Kindle, Smartphone, or Tablet to download books or just excerpts from some of your favorite books that you can read during those moments when you’re bored out of your mind (such as at those sports practices, meets, or events that can be draining for you to sit through waiting on your child to perform).

2.  If you’re driving then download instructional material on your Ipod, mp3 player, or pop in a dvd to learn something new such as a foreign language or effective communication methods.

3.  Your computer or laptop is an AWESOME source for both information and entertainment that can be achieved through online videos (YOU TUBE) and other sites such as Hulu or Netflix to view some of your favorite television shows or movies.

4.  Engage in learning a new hobby or skill using an assortment of videos available through Lynda.com or participating in an online webinar.

5.  Last but not least, stash a few books or magazines in your bathroom, under your car seat, in the kitchen or hidden in an outdoor shed that stores gardening tool that you rarely use because you haven’t made the time to start growing those prize roses due to not having the time to take up any further tasks because of your tight schedule.

Once you start cultivating bits of time for yourself it will be a skill that you’ll be eager to share with others hoping that this directs their attention off of YOU.
